Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, quoted that the solution to Sydney’s traffic problems lies within the Blue Mountains of Australia. The Blue Mountains region lies on the borders of Sydney’s metropolitan area. And the foothills start from approximately 50 kilometres west from the centre of the state. According to Musk, building a commuter tunnel under the Blue Mountains would be the solution.
Sydney, Australia: Australian cities like Sydney and Melbourne have worse traffic congestion than New York, more traffic pollution than Mexico City, and less comprehensive public transport system than Lisbon. Living in a world so dynamic and fast-changing every second counts. And having that precious time getting drowned in traffic is just hopeless.
Ross Caldow of Here Technology stated that Australian cities suffer from traffic congestion. So, more changes need to be done.
New South Wales member of parliament, Jeremy Buckingham, tweeted about Sydney’s traffic. He described Sydney as a city being choked by traffic. And he asked the cost of building a 50 km long tunnel. He tweeted this query. In response to it, Elon Musk tweeted his idea of building a two-way high-speed transit. Building one kilometre would cost around $15 million. So, the entire tunnel would cost around $750 million. And there would be an additional $50 million for every station.
