Air India, the government airline is looking to offer Holiday packages to customers soon. The debt-ridden airline has made this move to increase its’ share in the travel leisure business. This is an interesting move which will surely have many side effects throughout the community.
Delhi: The travel leisure business has recently been dominated by the likes of MakeMyTrip and Yatra in India. Meanwhile, Air India has recently struggled to keep its foothold in the aviation market. It’ll be interesting to see what the company’s strategy will be considering its’ growing pile of debt. It’ll need to innovate to gain ground on its’ new rivals.
Air India has started to invite global bids for commercial and technical proposals for well reputed IATA certified travel firms. They would provide for the technology platform, marketing, content, and management of web packages.
Subhas Goel, the chairman of Delhi-based travel Stick Travels stated,
It is a very good move. The airline’s world over offers such services which fetch them good revenue other than the ticket sales. Besides promoting destinations, it also promotes flights.
According to this deal, the company will be covering flights, hotels, and sightseeing options. The deal shall be valid for three years from the date of launch of Air India’s holiday package. And the bidder’s firm will have to begin its functioning within 5-7 weeks of the signing of the deal.

The bidder who quotes the highest revenue in the upcoming three years will be given this contract. The bidder can have its own arrangements for aspects covering hotels, transport services, and sightseeing options.
